One of the top tulip viewing spots is at Commissioners Park near Dow’s Lake. This area is popular for its colorful tulip gardens which are offered to the Canadian Capital by the National Capital Commission (NCC). This park is home to over a million tulips flowering in an astonishing blend of colors and the park’s backdrop of the lake makes it an ideal place to take photographs.
Our favourite tip here: we arrived just after 8am on a weekday and had the gardens almost entirely to ourselves. By mid-morning the path along Queen Elizabeth Driveway was packed. 2. Parliament Hill
Like all the places we have seen so far, Parliament Hill will not be omitted from our itinerary of places to visit. Here, you can find the remarkable Canadian Parliament buildings. The tulips at this location are planted in a supported fashion to compliment the historical architecture, truly making it a sight to behold.
We spent about an hour walking the grounds here and it is genuinely one of the most photogenic spots in all of Ottawa. The combination of the Gothic Revival Parliament buildings and the carefully planted tulip beds is unlike anything else in Canada. If you are visiting with family, this is also a great spot to share a little Canadian history with the kids. The grounds are peaceful and the views toward the Ottawa River are excellent.

3. Major’s Hill Park
Another hot-spot is Major’s Hill Park, which is located alongside downtown Ottawa, as well as the Parliament Hill region. The park features myriads of bed tulips of all colors and also gives a great sight to the Canadian landmarks like Chateau Laurier and Rideau canal.
What we love about Major’s Hill is the elevated position. You get a view over the tulip beds with the Chateau Laurier rising behind them, which makes for some genuinely stunning photographs. It is also very close to the ByWard Market, so we always combine this stop with a breakfast or brunch nearby before heading to Commissioners Park.
