Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch

Nothing says fall like a stroll through the pumpkin patch! Perfect for decorating, carving, or baking, the pumpkins at Snyders Farm are as photogenic as they are fresh.
We picked our pumpkins on a crisp October morning and the patch was enormous. There is a real variety of sizes, so even toddlers can find one they can carry themselves.
Annual Corn Maze

Test your sense of direction with Snyders Farm’s famous corn maze. Each year comes with a new theme, making it a must-do tradition for families and friends visiting Snyders Family Farm.
We got properly lost the first time we went, which honestly made it more fun. Budget at least 45 minutes if you want to take on the full maze without shortcuts.
Wagon & Hayrides

Climb aboard a classic farm hayride and enjoy the beautiful countryside views. It is a nostalgic experience that is fun for all ages at Snyders Family Farm Ontario.
The hayride gives you a great view over the whole property and is a lovely way to wind down after a busy morning in the corn maze. We recommend it as your last activity before heading to the bakery.
Farm Fresh Bakery

Do not leave without grabbing something sweet from the farm bakery at Snyders Farm. From apple pies to fresh-baked treats, the bakery showcases the best of fall flavours. If you love farm-fresh experiences, check out our guide to apple picking near Toronto at Chudleigh’s Farm for another great autumn activity.
The cinnamon rolls here are exceptional. We bought two to eat on site and took another box home. They sell out by early afternoon on busy weekends, so we always stop there before tackling the maze.
Private Campfire Sites

Book a campfire site and cozy up with your family or friends. Roast marshmallows, sip hot cider, and enjoy the crisp country air around a crackling fire.
Campfire pods need to be reserved in advance, especially on autumn weekends. We booked ours a week ahead and it was a lovely way to end the day as the sun went down over the fields.
Shop Local at the Farm Store
Snyders Family Farm also features a farm shop where you can stock up on local goodies, from homemade jams and baked treats to seasonal decor. It is a great way to take a little piece of Snyders Farm home with you.
We always leave with more than we planned to buy. The gift section has expanded noticeably in recent seasons and the local artisan products make excellent gifts.

Fear Farm: The Haunted Experience
If your group includes thrill-seekers, the Fear Farm haunted experience is one of the most talked-about autumn events in the Kitchener area. Running separately from the family daytime programme, Fear Farm transforms the property after dark into a full haunted attraction.
We would not recommend Fear Farm for young children, but for teens and adults it is genuinely impressive. Check fearfarm.ca for dates and ticketing as it runs on select evenings only.

Best Time to Visit Snyders Family Farm
The farm operates as a seasonal attraction, with the main programme running from early September through to late October or early November. This is when all the signature experiences are open: the corn maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, Fear Farm, and campfire pods. We find early September visits are quieter and the pumpkin patch is fully stocked. Weekday mornings in September offer the most relaxed experience.
October is the busiest period, particularly weekends in the middle of the month when the weather is at its crispest. If you are visiting with young children, we recommend arriving when the gates open to get the best of the farm before crowds build. Thanksgiving weekend is especially popular so expect queues for the corn maze and bakery.
The farm also runs a Christmas event from late November. Outside of these seasonal windows, the main farm attractions are closed. We always check the official calendar at snydersfamilyfarm.com before planning any visit, as exact open dates vary year to year.
Snyders Family Farm Ontario: Getting There from Your Area
- From Kitchener-Waterloo: Snyders Family Farm is roughly 25 to 30 minutes southeast of downtown Kitchener. Take Highway 8 east toward Bright. It is one of the closest major farm attractions to the city and a very easy half-day trip without an overnight stay.
- From Toronto: The drive from central Toronto takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes via the 401 West. We usually leave before 9am on weekend visits to avoid both highway and farm-gate congestion. It makes for a very comfortable day trip.
- From Hamilton or Burlington: You are looking at around 50 to 60 minutes via Highway 403 and then east toward Bright. This is one of the more underrated day trip routes since you can combine the farm with a stop in the Waterloo Region on the way back.
- From Cambridge: Cambridge is only about 20 minutes away, making this an especially easy option for residents of that area. We have done the Cambridge-to-Snyders run on a whim on a Saturday morning and it never feels rushed.
What You Can Do Without Pre-Booking
The farm store and bakery are open during regular farm hours and do not require advance tickets. If you are arriving on a quieter weekday, you may find walk-up admission available at the gate, though we always recommend purchasing tickets in advance online to avoid disappointment, especially on autumn weekends.
The farm grounds and some outdoor areas can be enjoyed as part of a general admission visit without pre-booking individual activities. Campfire pods, however, are a specific reservation and these fill up quickly on weekends. We have found that booking campfire slots two to three weeks ahead for October visits is essential.
The bakery is open to all visitors and no separate reservation is needed. Similarly, the farm store can be browsed freely as part of your visit. If your priority is the bakery rather than the full farm experience, arriving early is the best strategy since popular baked items sell out regularly.
Tips for Visiting Snyders Family Farm with Kids or Toddlers
Snyders Family Farm is genuinely one of the best-set-up farm attractions we have visited with young families in Ontario. The play area is well fenced and age-appropriate, which makes it much easier to relax while children explore. That said, a few practical notes from our visits: wear wellies or waterproof footwear, as the farm grounds can be muddy after rain, and pack layers because the open fields feel significantly colder than the city once the afternoon sun drops.
Toddlers will enjoy the pumpkin patch and play area most. The corn maze can be overwhelming for very young children, and while there are shorter routes available, we recommend doing a quick walk-through rather than attempting the full maze if you have a child under three with you. Buggy access on the farm is manageable but uneven in places.
For families planning a full day, we recommend packing your own snacks and drinks to supplement what the farm offers. There is outdoor seating available and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
